Thank God for Steve,

So just what can we learn from Steve's bathroom and kitchen and the flood?

Wednesday December 6th, 2006

Last night I called Steve at home, and while for every 100 words I spoke, Steve only got in one or so, what he said had a profound effect on me. For you see Steve is remodeling his bathroom and kitchen in a manner that points out perfectly how Jesus remodeled the earth 1,656 years after Adam and Eve were evicted from the Garden of Eden.

We call it Noah's flood, although why is beyond me. The only part that Noah had in the flood was making a really large barge with plans and materials supplied by and created by God, turning it into a barn for all the animals brought to him by God and then making sure they all got fed with the food supplied by God until the waters receded and the earth dried.

But what God did with the earth is what Steve is doing with his kitchen and bathroom. For God remodeled the earth not with new parts but by simply gutting the existing earth and then putting everything back in a new order. Steve is doing the same thing. He is taking all the fixtures, cabinets and things out of his bathroom and kitchen and putting them safely in a corner. He is gutting both rooms, making them larger, putting in new walls, ceiling and floors, and then reinstalling the perfectly functional fixtures for a familiar look and touch, but much larger and more efficient kitchen and bathroom.

Keeping in mind that remodeling work of Steve on his bathroom and kitchen today, and the remodeling done to earth by the Flood of Jesus some 4,760 years ago, let's now look at the question asked by Jesus in Luke 18:8b. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth? We know from First Thessalonians 4 that there will be true Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians around when Jesus returns, for He Himself tells us that through the pen of Paul:

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are dead, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For, if we who believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which died, as true believers in Jesus, will God bring with Him.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. (First Thessalonians 4:13-17 ACP/KJV)

From Paul's letter we can see that when Jesus returns and raptures His bride, there are believers alive. So what is Jesus asking when He asks in Luke 18:8b. "Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth?"?

Well, let us read what was going on when Jesus asked that question. To get the full context you are going to need to read and study Luke 17 and 18 on your own, but for this thought we are going to look at only the beginning of Luke 18.

And Jesus spoke in a parable, to those there, so that they would understand that men ought always to pray, and not be weak; Saying,

There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, "Avenge me of mine adversary." But he would not for a while:

And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

For afterward the judge said within himself, "Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me."

And shall not God avenge His own elect, which cry day and night unto Him, though He bear long with them? I tell you that God will avenge His speedily.

Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth? (from Luke 18:2-8 ACP/KJV)

So what is Jesus asking when He asked: "Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth?" The key is "shall not God avenge His own elect, which cry day and night unto Him,"

What Jesus is asking in Luke 18:8b is will there be any around who still have such faith in God and His word, that they will pray without ceasing, having full faith that in the end God Himself will repay the evil one, his minions and his ilk, with a vengeance for what they did to His people. That God Himself will judge the world and those in it by His rule book, the Bible.

You can start to answer that question for yourself this Sunday. When you go to church this Sunday, look at the backs of all the cars in the church parking lot. Count them, and then count how many have bumper stickers pronouncing that they are followers of Christ. Even today the vast majority of true Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians are really closet Christians, keeping their faith to themselves for fear. For fear of what? I don't know, I just know that as we move closer and closer to the end, less and less Christians are out in the open and more and more are becoming closet Christians.

Guys, we live is some very troubling times, times in which it is often hard to see that God is still in command. Yet He is. As the times get worse and as we move further and further to the fulfilling of Scripture, as we move closer and closer towards the time at the end of the seven years of great tribulation; the time when Jesus, through the pen of Peter, tells us that there will be no more face lifts, but the total renovation; the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men (2 Peter 3:7 ACP/KJV). We find fewer and fewer Christians who announce and pronounce their faith in Christ sovereignty and dominion of the world.

Oh Lord God of Creation, Thou who created the universe, please give us a bit more time, let Clint's guys finish the parsonage in Naples, and let Steve finish so that Janice and the girls can enjoy their new kitchen and bath. Jesus hear us as we pray for peace in Jerusalem, for with the new regime taking over in Washington, we as a nation may very well be joining the ranks that curse Israel. I thank You Lord for our safe trip and return and continue to put us in Your hands, asking you to forgive our sins, hear our prayers and keep us safely tucked under Your mighty right arm. And Lord I ask that You especially bless he who made our Thanksgiving visit possible and long. Amen.

Sha'al shalowm Yruwshalaim.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.

The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush, Sean and Michael have, they, Rush, Sean and Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

Pray for the President, pray for Attorney General John Ashcroft, pray for me, pray for all those who open their mouths or take pen in hand in an effort to sway public opinion.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
