Let me ask a question, just because you don't know the exact hour and date of th birth of Jesus, is that a reason to ignore His birth? Just because there may be a chance that the date of December 25th, may have been a compromise date established by the cult of Roman Catholicism to lure in other cults, is that a reason to ignore His birth? I personally don't think so, oh, no you are not going to hell for ignoring the festivities up through and even after December 25th, but how sad it must be to see all that is going on around you and you, without even a smile have not even a cookie in celebration.
Monday I did, "all I want for CHRISTmas is my..." Today I think I'll focus more on what you can give to put a smile on the Lord's face this CHRISTmas.
You could go to Target and buy a video game for one of your kids, while that might put a smile on the face of your kid, and would undoubtably put a smile on the faces of Target's management, stock holders, and satan, it would probably put a tear in the eye of the Lord.
You could go to many a CHRIST denying, happy holiday singing store and buy your wife a scarf or maybe even a pair of earrings made out of moose droppings. And, if you got a pair with no smell, they would probably put a smile on her face this CHRISTmas morning, and your purchase would absolutely put a smile on the face of the CHRIST denier who runs the place, but would it put a smile on the face of the Lord? I think not. I think a tear would be more like it.
You could go to Home Depot, Disney or any number of other CHRIST denying sales outlets and put a smile on satan's face, a tear in the eye of the Lord, and maybe a smile on the recipient of any gift purchased there, but why would you want to do that?
Why do so many, who claim to be CHRISTians, work so hard to spend their money, at the time of year we celebrate His birth, by putting a tear in His eye and a twinkle in the eye of satan? Is it because there are no CHRISTian outlets around? Is it because there is nothing you can think of to do with your money that would further the kingdom of God? Is it because you would rather do what is right in the sight of man than in the sight of God? I don't know.
But this I do know. If you want to do something this CHRISTmas that will put a smile on the face of the Lord instead of a tear in His eye, check out the list below. But first, I want you to think how much we owe Jesus.
Who is He? In the beginning was the Word(Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same(Jesus) was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him(Jesus); and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
So, who is Jesus? He is the Creator of everything, absolutely everything. He is God, God the Creator of everything. Yet, in order to give us a second chance, He left heaven and came to earth in the form of a baby in the womb, to be the perfect sinless blood sacrifice for all who call on His mane and become true Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians.
Who hath believed our(the Apostles) report(eye witness account)? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For He (Jesus) shall grow up before Him (God the Father) as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: He (Jesus) hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him (Jesus), there is no beauty that we should desire Him (Jesus). He (Jesus) is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.
Surely He(Jesus) hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our(mankind) iniquities: the chastisement of our(mankind) peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.
All we(mankind) like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him (Jesus) the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a Lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth.
He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare His generation? for He was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of My(God the Father's) people was He(Jesus) stricken. And He(Jesus) made His(Jesus) grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His(Jesus) death; because He(Jesus) had done no violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth.
Yet it pleased the LORD(God the Father) to bruise Him(Jesus); He(God the Father) hath put Him(Jesus) to grief: when Thou(God the Father) shalt make His(Jesus) soul an offering for sin, He(God the Father) shall see His(God the Father's) Seed(Jesus), He(God the Father) shall prolong His (Jesus) days, and the pleasure of the LORD(Trinity) shall prosper in His(Jesus) hand.
He(God the Father) shall see of the travail of His(Jesus) soul, and shall be satisfied: by His(Jesus') knowledge shall My(God the Father) Righteous Servant(Jesus) justify many; for He shall bear their(Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians) iniquities. Therefore will I divide Him(Jesus) a portion with the Great (Trinity), and He(Jesus) shall divide the spoil with the Strong(Trinity); because He(Jesus) hath poured out His soul unto death: and He(Jesus) was numbered with the transgressors; and He bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. (Isaiah 53:1-12 ACP/KJV)
All of Isaiah 53 can pretty well be summed up with:
There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, "Rabbi, we know that Thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him." Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Nicodemus saith unto Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?" Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Nicodemus answered and said unto Him, "How can these things be?" Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but He that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him (Jesus) should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation, that Light(Jesus) is come into the world, and men loved darkness(satan) rather than Light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the Light, neither cometh to the Light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the Light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. (John 3:1-21 ACP/KJV)
OK let me summarize in paraphrase for you, God so loves us that He left the power, the glory, the comforts of heaven and came to earth as a baby in the womb so that you could ignore Him if you so choose. He came here so that you had a choice, a choice to spend eternity with Him or eternity with satan, but a choice, one not previously available.
Now, do you want to put a smile on His face? Would you like to do something this CHRISTmas that would glorify Him and not satan?
Here is a partial list, given a bit of time and effort, my guess would be that you could come up with a lot more.
So, you see, if you want to, you really can, not only celebrate CHRISTmas this year, you can do something nice for the Lord while celebrating. You know, I know a lot of Christians, there are some who are going to be in front of the Lord for a long, long time putting down their crowns, and there will be others who won't be there but a minute.
Jesus, thank You for what You've done for us. Help us Lord to find the strength and courage to use the resources You have given us to do something for You, something to put a smile on Your face. Help us to do something that starts to show You that we do indeed appreciate all You have done for us. And Lord, Happy Birthday. Oh ya, and Lord, think You could kind of soften the hearts of those who don't join in the festivities for one picky, petty reason or another? Thank You Lord. Amen.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
