How important is prayer?

Monday December 19th, 2005
Hey, tell me, have the kids been being good? Have they all been hinting around trying to figure out if you got them everything on their Christmas wish list? Did you get your wife what ever it was she has given you hints for? Have you gone to Jesus with your list of things you want from Him this CHRISTmas?

Can I make a suggestion to you, for what you might give serious and prayerful consideration to asking Jesus for as a special CHRISTmas gift to you? Might as well say yes to that, cause it is what today's thought is all about.

Here we go, my CHRISTmas list for Jesus, after all it is His birthday, so, shouldn't He give me a gift for His Birthday?

"Father in heaven, Hallowed, Holy and Sacred is Thy name. Lord, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, even here on earth as it tis in heaven.

Lord give me this day, my daily bread, not just the bread that nourishes my body Lord, but that bread which is Thy Word, that bread by which I truly live.

Lord, forgive me for the things I have done, said, thought, and even dreamt that have offended Thee, for those things are sin. And help me to forgive those who have harmed me.

Lord, please don't allow me to be led into temptation, and deliver me from evil. For Lord, as the Creator of all things, all kingdoms are yours, all power is Yours and all the glory is Yours as well.

Father, I come to Thee in the name of Your Son, my Lord and my Saviour, Christ Jesus, I ask You this day to hear my words, to be with me, to protect me and mine, to keep us safe from the evil one, his minions and his ilk. To keep safe, us who belong to You, to protect us even from those who serve the evil one unknowingly.

Lord Jesus, as You know, it is the time of the year when we celebrate Your birth, the time we give You, the Father and the Holy Ghost thanks for loving us enough for You to leave Your throne and come here to earth, as a babe in the womb, so that I can come to You like this. Like a spoiled little brat kid brother, always asking for stuff and always making excuses for not taking the garbage out.

Lord Jesus, a long time ago, when You were here preaching the Kingdom of God, You choose out for Yourself twelve men, 11 true men and one traitorous thief. One day some of the eleven asked You to do something, something that even today, many of us do not fully understand. They said; 'Lord, teach us to pray.'

So, this year Lord, for Your CHRISTmas gift to me from You on Your birthday to me, Your arrogant, spoiled, selfish brat kid brother, I would ask You to do two things, teach me to pray and teach me to understand how and why I pray.

Lord You have said: And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in My name, I will do it. (John 14:13&14 ACP/KJV)

Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, 'Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;' it shall be done. (Matthew 21:21 ACP/KJV)

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, 'Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;' and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. (Mark 11:23 ACP/KJV)

Lord Jesus I know that it is impossible for You to lie, impossible for You to mislead, but Lord, I, must be doing something wrong, for You have also told us through Your half brother James: Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Lord, I have seen so many prayers answered that I find it hard to understand how it is that I am asking amiss. I have seen my voice restore, my stomach healed, Willy alive, Cecily healed and our relations with Allen healed and the home You have provided for us. And Lord I appreciate all of these things, and all the other things You have done in answering my prayers.

BUT, and Lord, this is a big but. But Lord, the most important prayers seem to be going unheard, they seem to be falling on deaf ears. My prayers to You for salvation, seem to be going unanswered. Over the last ten years, I have prayed and prayed and prayed for the salvation of the same ones over and over again, I have come to think that I am becoming a nuisance, yet, I have not seen even one of those, whose salvation I pray for, come to know You. Not one Lord, not one.

Jesus, how can it be that I do not pray amiss to safe the life of a cat, yet pray amiss for the salvation of my children, my brother, my sister, my cousins, aunts, uncles and kin?

Lord Jesus, bear with me a bit longer, give me a bit more time, let me rant a while longer, for this is important, not just to me Lord, for You were there last night, you heard the anguish in the voices and hearts of the others as they too felt betrayed, they to felt that You were ignoring their prayers for the salvation of loved ones.

Lord, did You not come to earth 2,006 years ago for the very reason of Salvation? Was that not Your chief purpose for leaving Your throne and coming to Your footstool? Was not the reason You went up on the cross so as to enable all to be saved? Did You not say: And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved, he that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Is there anything more important to You, and to us, than the salvation of the lost? Does a shepherd not leave the ninety and nine to go search for the one that is lost? Does the shepherd not rejoice at the finding of the lost little sheep? Are not the lost the ones who have not salvation? Are we not out searching when we pray to You for their salvation? If so, then why do You ignore us?

Lord Jesus, for CHRISTmas this year, would You please help me to understand how to pray for the Lost? How to pray for the salvation of the unsaved? Will You, for a CHRISTmas gift this year, lead me to the Scripture that explains answered prayer?

Lord I love having my cat alive and my wife healthy, and my being able to talk and being still alive, but Lord, I would put all of those things way behind the salvation of those whose salvation I pray for.

I love You Lord, I adore You Lord and I am Yours. So, Lord, if I have found any favor in Your sight at all, even the tiniest smidgen of favor, please hear this prayer, hear this my CHRISTmas list for gifts from You to me on Your birthday. Amen."

And there you have it guys, my list for Jesus for CHRISTmas gifts for me from Him for this CHRISTmas morning. Might I suggest you ask for the same thing. For remember;

And whatsoever ye shall ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in My name, I will do it. ... Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. ... For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Over the last nine plus years, yes, we are in our tenth year, I have done many a thought on the lake of fire, on how there aint no purgatory, how the default is not life eternal with the Lord but eternal suffering in the lake of fire. I have done enough of these thoughts so that all of you should understand just how bad eternal damnation is. And as such your prayers for salvation should be the most important prayers you ever utter. Imagine how wonderful it would be if the Lord would pull out all the stops to bring those whose salvation we pray for to salvation.

Why is this so important to me? Well one reason is that some of the ones I have been praying for over the last ten years, are dead. And why is that so sad? And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Guys there aint no purgatory, once a man, woman or child dies, they are judged, they are judged based upon one thing and one thing only, their relationship with the Lord God of Creation, Christ Jesus. If they are not in the Lamb's Book of Life, they are not getting into heaven, they are dammed to eternal suffering in the lake of fire.

Go back and read: A Michelangelo I am not

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
