The day before CHRISTmas, what a time to read Isaiah 50.

What a wonderful time of the year, a time so wonderful and happy that satan, through his minions in the press, the body politic and the liberal university systems, work overtime trying to darken it and He whose birth we celebrate. Satan and his minions hate CHRISTmas almost as much as we, who have given our lives to the Lord, hate his high holiday Helloween.

Satan and his little worker minions have worked hard and relentlessly to undermine and bring to non importance the Birth of Christ on His Birthday. And they have done a good job. Last Sunday my wife and I drove down to Lynn, Massachusetts. It was a beautiful day and a lovely ride. Yet on the way home, when it was night, we could not help but notice the lack of CHRISTmas lighting. We drove through residential neighborhoods and found less than 25% were decorated. Throughout the business communities, lighting was scarce to say the least. In both the residential and the commercial communities the vast majority of decorations were secular not Christian. You would have thought it was some red suited fat guy's birthday, not the Lord Jesus'.

Even here in the Oxford Hills area of Maine, the emphasis seems to be on santa and not CHRIST. A sad and to be honest, disturbing fact. That is the CHRISTmas cloud. Now before I get into the silver lining of that grey and horrible cloud, let us read Isaiah chapter 50.

Isaiah Chapter fifty.

Thus saith the LORD, "Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? Or which of My creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? When I called, was there none to answer? Is My hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver?

Behold, at My rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there is no water, and dieth for thirst. I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.

The Lord GOD hath given Me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned. The Lord GOD hath opened Mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back. I gave My back to the smiters, and My cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not My face from shame and spitting. For the Lord GOD will help Me;

Therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set My face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. He is near that justifieth Me! Who will contend with me? Let us stand together. Who is Mine adversary? Let him come near to Me.

Behold, the Lord GOD will help Me. Who is he that shall condemn Me? Lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.

Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of His Servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God. Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of Mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow." Isaiah quoting Christ Jesus (Isaiah 50:1-11 ACP/KJV)

Now, the silver lining within the cloud. More and more businesses and individuals are choosing to ignore the Lord on His birthday and make Him of non importance. They instead shine the light upon the secular santa claus. Well, so be it. For as time goes on, people will find more and more excuses not to buy gifts for such a wide group as is now done. Folks instead will say "What's the big deal?" "Why should I spend my money on strangers?" Oh they may continue to buy for family, but bear in mind, families are getting smaller and smaller. 60 years ago here in the good ole Oxford Hills area the average family was Dad, Mom and five kids. Today it is 2.5 family members.

There is an old saying, it goes something like this: "What goes around comes around." The merchants have followed satan's path to ignoring the Lord on CHRISTmas. Already the sales of CHRISTmas ornaments and decorations are down. It will not be long before the people will ignore the merchants' cry for sales and say "What's the big deal? Ain't nothing special about December 25th, why spend my money."

But for those of us who are Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christians, the buying and giving of gifts is a very minor part in what we celebrate already. So, let the registers be silent and the gifts stay on the shelves, while we who believe celebrate and those who oppose Christ watch the ball games or go to work and get paid overtime. For if you do not believe in the Lord Jesus, CHRISTmas is just one more day after all.

"I gave My back to the smiters, and My cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not My face from shame and spitting." Thank You Lord and happy birthday. Amen.

Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush and Michael have, they, Rush, Michael and their audiences need the Lord.

The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.

It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.

All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
