Today the world is screaming about having the right for this or that. What "rights" do we have as Christians? Where does God tell us we have certain rights? Do we have the right for a trouble free marriage? No.
Do we have the right to be free of debt? No.
Do we have the right to be happy? No. Have a "good" job? Again the answer is no. The right to an inheritance? No again.
What we do have is given to us by God out of His grace and His generosity. Until we realize this we will live under a dark cloud without looking into the silver lining.
1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever.
2&3 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; and gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
4,5,6&7. They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. 5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses. And He led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
8&9 Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
10,11&12 Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High: Therefore He brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.
13,14,14&16 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder. Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.
17,18&19 Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and He saveth them out of their distresses.
20,21&22 He sent His Word(Christ Jesus, the Messiah), and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. 21 Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! 22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing. (Psalm 107:1-22 ACP/KJV)
This next year I would challenge each and every one of us to praise the LORD for His goodness and for His wonderful works rather than curse Him for not giving us what we want and think we need. Praise God for giving me a wonderful wife, someone who keeps the uncontrollable me in check. Someone who will always ask me if I have prayed about a decision and then go deep inside and make sure that I did pray in an earnest and righteous manner. Do I have a "right" to her as my wife? No. However I do praise God for the goodness of bringing the two of us together.
Happy New Year and don't blame God for the things man does and causes to be done!
To all, Cecily and I would like to join with Steve and Janice in wishing all a happy and blessed 2006.
Rev. Bob Celeste
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.

The difference between a true preacher and a false preacher comes down to this. The true preacher uses God's word to convict of sin, the false preacher twist God's word to justify sin. The Lord our God, Christ Jesus be with you always, amen.
The Lord our God, Christ Jesus, be with you all and please keep your pastor and me in your prayers. Amen. My prayer daily is "Lord please bless those tenfold who bless me."
