Today's Christian thought: Wednesday December 31st, 2003
Well, in less than 14 hours we will be in the year of our Lord 2004. As we go into this new year, why don't we make a resolution between ourselves and God that we will try to be better Christians? Making that resolution and keeping it will not be all that hard. Let's take baby steps. Let's start by committing to the Lord that we will be more careful of what we read. Or, if you are one who is prone to watching a lot of tv, to use the mute button more often, avoiding shows that out and out glorify homosexuality and/or idolatry.
How about you wives resolving to think before speaking in anger. And you husbands reminding yourself that your wife is not only your rib, but the weaker vessel and a joint heir of eternal salvation with you. That is if you and she are saved.
How about a resolution to not listen to the likes of Madonna, Britney Spears and others that promote an anti-Christian life style to your kids.
As you can see, resolving to be a better Christian is not hard, not if you simply take it one step at a time. How about you dads letting your daughters know how proud you would be if they remained chaste till their wedding night? How about you moms modeling to your sons what a good Christian wife should be?
There has never been a little girl born that did not idolize her dad, did not want to please him, to make him happy. And likewise, there has never been a little boy born that did not want a wife just like his mom. We all know about the Clintons, we know about Bill, Hillary and Chelsea. Hillary put working ahead of her daughter, even saying, "So, what should I have done, stayed home and baked cookies?" Bill put adultery so far ahead of his family that his legacy is an adulterous relationship with a girl young enough to be his daughter. Now think about Chelsea. Dads, would you want your daughter to turn out like her? Moms would you want your son marrying someone like her? Do you see the importance of being good Christian parents? Who else are your kids going to learn from?
If you will resolve to be better Christians, I think next year's thoughts might just help. Starting January first, the daily thought is going to include a verse of Scripture, starting with Matthew verse one, chapter one. Each day's thoughts, will be built upon the Scripture of that day. And God willing, if I can get an IBM compatible laptop before we leave in June for 6 weeks, the thoughts will continue throughout the summer.
So, let us resolve together with the Lord, to be better Christians next year than we were this year. Let us commit to praying daily for our wives, and our children. And let us, as well, promise ourselves to read at least one chapter of Scripture each day. And let us also pray that the President will join with us in this resolve.
¶ Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of Whom thou hast learned them;
If you commit to being a godly Christian parent, you will one day be able to look at your sons and daughters and say: ¶ And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. For they will know that ¶ All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: so ¶ That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:12-17)
For, if your children do not learn from you what is right, and how to be a Christian dad and mom, what to look for in a Christian spouse, where and what will they learn? And dads, if it is not you your daughter is out to please, who will it be? And do you think that other man in her young life will be interested in her being chaste till marriage, or in robbing her chastity from her?
So, let us resolve to be both better parents and better servants to the Most High God. We can do both by being better Christian dads and moms.
Oh Lord God, Creator of all heaven and earth, help us to serve Thee better. Help us to remember that we have used our free will to be Yours and that it is You we want to not only serve, but to have our children belong to as well. Help us to put You first each day, give us the strength and hunger to seek You and Your word. For it is in the name of the most High God of creation, Christ Jesus, we pray, amen.
Pray for my friend Mac, pray for Rush and Michael Savage. While the Lord does not need the platforms and audiences that Rush and Michael have, they, Rush, Michael and their audiences need the Lord.
The Lord God of the Universe, Messiah Y'shua be with you all, amen.
It is better to be a horse fly in the stables of the Lord Jesus than the CEO of hell.
All Scripture quoted, in both sermons and daily thoughts, except when done by a guest, is from the ACP/authorized 1611 King James Version. The words in red are those quotes of God the Son, the Lord Jesus and the words in purple are those qoutes spoken directly by God the Father and the words in this sickly greenish color are of satan. But all of the Bible is spoken by God and should be viewed as God's handbook for us to run our lives by 2 Timothy 3:16.
