Happy birthday Lord and thanks. Friday December 20th. 2002
The other day I was pondering a few verses of Scripture;
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. (Luke 21:36)
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. (Luke 6:28)
In those two verses, spoken by God when He came to earth as the Lord Jesus, one is an easy thing to do and the other at times can be all but impossible without His help. The easy thing is to pray always, the hard thing is to pray for those who despitefully use you.
Let me explain if I may, as you leave the moral sewer we call Portland and head north and west on Route 26, you come to the top of a hill in Poland, from the top of that hill you have a magnificent view of the Oxford Hills area. From that hill, you are leaving behind the moral desert of Portland, a city that seems to be trying to prove itself worthy of the title "sodom of the east coast" and heading forward into one of the most blessed areas of the state, the Oxford Hills communities.
Praying for the things you have seen, heard and read in Portland can be difficult to say the least, but as you approach the Oxford Hills area, giving thanks to the Lord for what you see, hear and read becomes easier with each passing mile.
As we move closer and closer to CHRISTmas, another thought comes to mind, what to give the Lord this year for His 2,002nd birthday celebration. And what better to give the Creator of all things than thanks for that which He has created. And how easy it is to give thanks to Him for letting me live in the Oxford Hills area. For we who are His, who live in this area have much to give Him thanks for. We have a radio station lead by Dick Gleason and managed by Eric Marenghi. A radio station that does not promote filth, but instead promotes honest family Christian values, a station unashamed to air Christian thoughts, music, and programing. We have stores like Western Auto and the place on Rt 26 in So Paris with the signs promoting Christ.
We have a slew of solid Evangelical Born Again Christian churches, churches that preach what God said, not what some claim He meant to say. And we have this newspaper, the Norway Advertiser Democrat. Under the ownership of Howard James and the editorial guidance of Susan Arena, the Advertiser Democrat has become such a fine family orientated paper that I use it as part of my Kentucky prison ministry. A newspaper that prints words and articles that seem to be designed to avoid hurting the Lord, a paper that instead uses it's space, it's words and it's influence to instill the Love of the Lord and His doctrines on an area so in need of the Lord stability after a day in Portland.
Yes it is easy and good to give thanks to the Lord Jesus, the Christ, on His birthday for the Evangelical Christian Churches in the Oxford Hills area. It is easy and proper to give Him praise and thanks for the businesses HE has established in this area. And how easy it is to give Him thanks for the God fearing and serving media in print and on the air that He has blessed us with in Norway. A paper and a radio station serving the entire Oxford Hills Area and beyond.
Yes Lord this year, for Your birthday gift from me to You, I give You thanks for the Born Again Christian Evangelical Churches, the businesses and Mr. Gleason's radio station and Mr. James's newspaper. A paper and radio station that You have blessed us with in Norway, and all in the Oxford Hills area.
Thank You Lord. Amen.
God blessed America when she feared Him, now it appears, she may face His wrath.
