But Lord, there are none left... Friday December 6th, 2002
Do you ever get the feeling that you're the only Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian left? Do you look around you at work and see heathen after heathen? Do you look in your neighborhood or community and wonder if there are any others, besides you, who truly love, worship and fear God?
Then said Elijah unto the people, "I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men." (1Kings 18:22)
And Elijah "said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, thrown down Thine altars, and slain Thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away." (1Kings 19:10)
And Elijah said, "I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken Thy covenant, thrown down Thine altars, and slain Thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away." (1Kings 19:14)
So, you see you're not alone, nor are you the first to feel that way. Elijah felt the same way, he was sure there were none left that loved, honored, worshipped and feared God other than him. Yet, let's read a bit further and see:
And the LORD said unto Elijah, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria: And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.
And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay. Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him. (1 Kings 19:15-18)
While Elijah felt as though he alone was left of the true believers, God had seven thousand in reserve. Notice that the way Elijah found out about these seven thousand was not by running an ad in the local Jerusalem Gazette Tribune Scroll. But by going to God. Elijah cried out to God in pain and tears, saying something to the effect of Lord, Lord help me, there are none left to worship You, only me, take me too, for what have I left to live for? Let me I pray Thee be with Thee.
Does Elijah's cry sound familiar? Have you felt like Elijah at times? Well, I'll tell you, if you are a Christian, a true, Born Again Washed in the Blood of the Lamb Christian, and you work as a cop, as a member of the judicial system of the country, as a member of our military, as a teacher in the public school system or even a preacher in the Northeastern part of the USA, counting Pennsylvania, you know exactly what Elijah felt like.
So, how did God let Elijah know that there were still seven thousand true believers left? The same way He will let you, me, and every other true believer know, through prayer and His word.
Go to the Lord in prayer, cry out to Him. He in turn will show you two or three other believers where you work, in your neighborhood or even in your own family. And with them, you can start a little daily prayer group, don't worry about the rules, God will protect you and your prayer partners, And then:
"Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them." (A direct quote for God the Son, the Lord Jesus in Matthew 18:19&20)
So, when you feel as if you are the last Christian alive, the last true believer on planet earth, at work, at home, at school or at anywhere else, just cry out to the Lord, He will show you two or three others.
Our Lord and Saviour Messiah Yeshua be with you all, and thank you for your prayers yesterday, for yesterday, I was feeling like Elijah.
Oh Lord God in heaven, Creator of all things, let Your will be done in our hearts as it is in Your heaven. Help us find two or three amongst the thousands you have reserved to Yourself, give us strength at home and at work.
God blessed America when she feared Him, now it appears, she may face His wrath.
