I know it is hard, as we look around at the things happening in the world, to hold onto the fact that God is always in charge. But, since we know that the word of God, Holy Scripture, is infallible, we know that He is absolutely in charge. And that all things happen either because He has ordained them or allowed them to happen.
Here are three bits of Scripture to help you through these trying times.
First: For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist. (Colossians 1:16&17) All things were made by God, the things we see, the things we don't see, governments, devils, angels, earth, the heavens, everything, but not only were they made by Him, they were made by Him for His pleasure. And these things only exist because He allows them to exist. Now, if that doesn't mean that God is in charge of everything, then I don't know what does. Think about it, God made everything, He made everything for His own pleasure and all these things He made exist only because and as long as He allows them to.
How can we be sure? How can we know that what we read in Scripture is of God and not of man?
Second: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (2 Timothy 3:16) All Scripture, not most of it, but all of it, was given or dictated if you will by God. Men simply wrote down what God dictated to them. And that dictation that they took down became our Holy Bible.
And third: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2 Peter 1:20&21)
Yes, all things written in the Bible are direct quotations spoken by God to His chosen writers. But, are we expected to understand everything? No, we are only human, we are not God, we have no where near the ability or capacity to understand all that God has spoken to us. Nor does God expect us to, but what He does expect is for us to search His word, looking for answers and as He reveals them to us, we are to obey them.
But, sometimes it is hard for us to know whether we are getting answers form God or from our own head. In that case, we look further into Scripture and we go deeper into prayer, even asking others to pray with us, seeking the truth and answers form God. And tomorrow, we will go into that further, we will see how I am asking your help and prayers to find out if what I have seen is of me or of God.
The Lord our God, Messiah Yeshua be with you all. Amen.
