"For many are called, but few chosen."
Matthew 22:14

What did Jesus mean? What was He telling us when He said, "For many are called, but few chosen."?

If you, as a Christian man have learned anything from the misuse of "Judge not, that ye may not be judged," Matthew 7:1 and "Lord, behold, here are two swords." And He said unto them, "It is enough". You should have learned that one of the most important keys to understanding Scripture is Context, Context, Context. For looking at "For many are called, but few chosen." all alone is not going to give you context, it is instead going to either leave you wondering, confused, or gullible to an interpretation done by some who puts filthy lucre ahead of your soul.

So, let's look at the context that called for the Lord to say, "For many are called, but few chosen." ...

THE LAW, then and now Exodus 20

Jesus said: "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." Matthew 5:17 ACP/KJV

First of all, what is the Law? And then what was it for before Christ and what is it for since Christ? Let's start with what is the Law?

The Law is the Ten Commandments:

1 And God spake all these words, saying,

2-6 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments....

Do not give up! Do not surrender! Luke 23:39-43

In this day of instant gratification, of ignorance of God, God's Word, God's word and current events, it is all to easy for churches that preach what God said and not what some know He meant to say to give up, to surrender, to cut the number of services, the length of the sermon, the length of the service, and turn away from the KJV to such heresies as the NIV. To Them, to their pastors, board of elders, trusties and congregation, I say don't give up, don't surrender, add services, return to the KJV.

Pastors, churches, you are the sowers of God's word. How can you sow when the doors are closed, locked and the building is empty? ...

In the space of one hundred and seventy-six years the Mississippi has shortened itself two hundred and forty-two miles. Therefore ... in the Old Silurian Period the Mississippi River was upward of one million three hundred thousand miles long ... seven hundred and forty-two years from now the Mississippi will be only a mile and three-quarters long. ... There is something fascinating about science. One gets such wholesome returns of conjecture out of such a trifling investment of fact.
